Rasmussen Reports will be launching a new subscription service on October 1 as part of a larger effort to distribute its public opinion information through a variety of media platforms. The new service will be available for $3.95 a month or $34.95 a year and include much of the information currently available for free on the RasmussenReports.com website. The daily Presidential Tracking Poll, video updates, audio reports, and commentaries, will remain available to the public at no charge.
Rasmussen Reports, a media company specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion data, has recently launched a one-hour radio show hosted by Scott Rasmussen. The show currently airs on WLS 890 AM radio in Chicago and WMAL 630 AM radio in Washington DC. The firm has also entered into an agreement with Telco Productions for the development of television programming. Other media distribution relationships will be announced in the coming months.
“At Rasmussen Reports, we never forget that hardly anybody cares about polls, but they care a great deal about the topics we poll about,” said company founder and president Scott Rasmussen. “As people gather information from a wide variety of media platforms, we will share our information in that same manner.”
While Rasmussen Reports provides daily polling data on a variety of topics including daily measures of consumer and investor confidence, site traffic typically peaks in election years. The most popular page on the site is the daily Presidential Tracking Poll. Currently that page provides daily updates of the president’s Job Approval ratings and a summary of public reaction to other events in the news. When the Republican challenger has been identified, that page will also provide a daily update of the 2012 race for the White House.
During the month of September, visitors to the Rasmussen Reports web site will be able to subscribe to the new service at a special pre-launch rate of $24.95 for 15 months, through the end of 2012.
During the 2008 election, Rasmussen Reports projected that Barack Obama would defeat John McCain by a 52% to 46% margin. The final outcome was 53% to 46%. In Election 2004, Rasmussen Reports was the only firm to project the totals for both President Bush and Senator Kerry within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.
“This is an exciting time for us,” Rasmussen added. “As interest in our work continues to grow, we are actively exploring new ways to share our content with a wider audience.”
The new subscription service will have no impact on Platinum Membership services. Platinum Members receive access to survey crosstabs and other information for $19.95 per month or $199.95 annually. The company will continue to sell online advertising and offer title sponsorship opportunities.
Rasmussen Reports is a media company specializing in the collection, publication and distribution of public opinion information.
We conduct public opinion polls on a variety of topics to inform our audience on events in the news and other topics of interest. To ensure editorial control and independence, we pay for the polls ourselves and generate revenue through the sale of subscriptions, sponsorships, and advertising. Nightly polling on politics, business and lifestyle topics provides the content to update the Rasmussen Reports web site many times each day. If it's in the news, it's in our polls. Additionally, the data drives a daily update newsletter and various media outlets across the country.
Some information, including the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll and commentaries are available for free to the general public. Subscriptions are available for $4.95 a month or 34.95 a year that provide subscribers with exclusive access to more than 20 stories per week on upcoming elections, consumer confidence, and issues that affect us all. For those who are really into the numbers, Platinum Members can review demographic crosstabs and a full history of our data.
